Composer, arranger, saxophonist and educator Keith Daniels Llantén is a New York City-based musician from Chile. His music has been performed by the University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band, Melissa Aldana, Alameda Memoria, Sexto Piso, Hardy Llorca, Kristiana Roemer, Edgardo Benedetti, Ipshita Roy and La Chile Big Band among many others.
He has performed with critically acclaimed musicians and ensembles such as The Villalobos Brothers, the Chilean National Symphony Orchestra, the Chilean National Youth Symphony Orchestra, La Chile Big Band and Sexto Piso among many others. With Sexto Piso, he recorded two albums: “Desde el Sexto Piso” (2014) and “Con Tus Manos Con Mis Manos.” This last record was partially funded by a grant from the prestigious “Fondo de la Música” of the Chilean Ministry of Culture. It includes “Tempestad con Silencio,” an original composition set to the words of the poem of the same name by the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.
His work as an educator includes being the primary instructor of record of saxophone at the evening program of the University of Chile, where he also served as an ensemble coach. He became Teaching Assistant of Jazz Arranging while studying in the University of North Texas and has been a faculty member of various music schools in the New York area.
Keith Daniels Llantén is a 2020 graduate from the MM in Jazz Studies program at the University of North Texas. His studies there were partially funded by a competitive grant from the aforementioned Chilean “Fondo de la Música.” His studies at the University of Chile include a Professional Certificate in Saxophone Performance (2017), a BA in Saxophone Performance (2016) and a BA in Theory of Music (2014).
